Firefighters Deserve Praise
It has been said that when it comes to public safety, politicians like to grandstand when honoring heroes but are silent when the question of fair compensation comes up, all praise and no raise the saying goes. The Omaha World Herald has taken this mind set to a new low. On the same day as the editorial page of that paper included a political cartoon attacking the Omaha Firefighters, the saine section of the newspaper contained a true story about an Omaha Firefighter who on August 12th, entered a burning building, carried a small child under his arm “like a loaf of bread” and lead the child’s terrified mother to safety through smoke and flames. The critics of the Firefighters never hesitate to take pot shots at these brave men and women. The public remains well served by the ongoing heroics of the men and women of the Omaha Fire Department. The agenda of the anti firefighter crowd remains clear make - them out to be selfish and greedy. - When they risk their lives to save others, their selfless acts ought not go unnoticed.

The cartoon showed Firefighters happily bouncing one of their own on a rescue device; the real story was a firefighter responding to the terrified cries of a mother and her child trapped on a balcony. Please think of this mother and her child who would almost certainly be dead if it were not for the quick and competent actions of a brave public servant.

John Corrigan Wins Auto Accident Case
Partner John Corrigan rocked the Douglas County Courthouse by securing a jury verdict for $47,542.00 on a contested auto accident. His client was a Spanish speaking laborer who only incurred about $1,900 in past medical bills. The adverse driver blamed John’s client for the accident and denied there was any lasting injury. She and her lawyer hired a local orthopedic surgeon to testify that there was at best a temporary soft tissue strain. John passed up an offer for $6,000 and convinced the jurors that the Defendant was not only at fault but was responsible for damages totaling $47,542.00.

The jury was of course not instructed that she had adequate insurance. His only testifying doctor was a family practice physician from Lexington, Kentucky.

John Corrigan took and tried a tough case that so many other lawyers would have either declined or settle on the cheap. Congratulations to partner John Corrigan for fighting the good fight against an excellent seasoned and successful defense counsel. Way to go, John!
